A very special recipe as i learned this from my mom.here i used 1/2 tsp sambar powder.but my mom wont use that too,insted she will use 1/2 tsp chillipowder,3/4 tsp cumin powder.And at last she used to grind coconut and jeera and spread over the sambar and make it to boil for 3mts.evethough till now i didnt get the taste of her..... heres my recipe........enjoy.
Ingrediants:
toor dhal-11/2 cup
garlic-2pods
turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
onion-7 shallots or 1/2 of bid onion.
tomato-3 small
greenchilli-7
cumin powder-1/4 tsp
sambar powder--1/2 tsp
drumstic--2 full or (beans-5 carrot-1)
brinjal-2. if u use bans and carrot then no need of brinjal
tamarind pulp-2tsp
asafoetida-1/4 tsp
Method:
Pressure cook toordhal with turmeric+garlic+asafoetida for 3whistles.
Now in kadai oil+mustard_uruddhal+onion+green chilles+curry leaves.
.fry it for just 2mts,
Now add tomato.fry it until it becomes jucy.
Add drumstic fry for 2mts.Add cumin podwer fry it just 2sec.
now add 3 cup of water.ABove water put sambar powder..dont stir it.Allow it to mix by itself.
In mean time mix tamrind pulp to dhal and keep it aside,when the drumstics r half boiled add toordhal mixture to above mixture.make it to boil for 10more mts...granish with coriender leaves.
Goes good with rice and potato fry ..even only with papad(appalam ,pappadam,crackers) and pickel
..Good for dinner especially in rainiy season..
