This sambar is for pongal ,idliy,and dosa..wont suits for rice..taste similar as saravana bhavan hotel...
Ingrediants:
toor dhal-1cup
tomato-3(romo 1small 2)
garlicpods-2
onion-1/2 big
drumstic-1
brinjal-2
sambar powder-2tsp
roasted gram(pottukadai r porikadali)--2tsp
coconut--grated 6tsp
tamarind pulp-2tsp
Method:
pressure cook toodhal with garlic and turmeric powder for 2whistles.
Grind one big tomato +sambar powder+rosated gram+coconut as paste.keep it aside.
once the dhal is cooked,remove the cover now add+onion+2 small tomato+veggies.make it to boil.Once it started boiling immeditely add the girnded masala.
Once the veggies r 3/4 cooked add tamarind pulp.make it ti boil for 10mts.
Now in kadai oil+mustard +urud dhal+curry leaves.(seasoning).pour it in above mixture...
granish with coriender leaves.
note::::::: dont make sambar very thick -becaz as we are adding roasted gram and coconut paste it should be little watery .After sometimes it will become thick(i mean the correct state) if its so thck then u need to add water while reheating,adding water after cooked reduce the taste of any recipes.
